Hello all,
Some of the players have come to me with problems regarding the sudden arrivals of a best friend, a new sibling or two, or even a love interest. The concern being that the players were not consulted and have no idea who these new characters are.
Everyone has the right to choose who they are related to, best friends with or who they fall in love with.
Before you make plans for anything having to do with someone else's character, please be sure to speak to them about your ideas first before anything else. And respect their wishes if they should decline.

I completely support this. Even if you have a character that's from the storybooks or comics that has a pre-established connection with a character you should discuss it with them to make sure it's all right. Just because we've got some characters from the stories and comics doesn't mean that everything from them is gospel.
Remember: Some players might not have read the storybooks or comics and might only be going by the movies, or they might have a different take on things. So play it safe and ask first.

Oh, absolutely! Especially where we have so many FCs that are just starting to get to know eachother OOCly even if they're supposed to know eachother very well ICly. Everyone could easily have different ideas about what any pre-existing relationships mean. Talking things over OOCly is an absolute must! Even in situations where you could realistically conclude that there's nothing another character could ICly do about what you want your character to do, you should consult with them first. Otherwise you could end up with really messy IC consequences as characters react to what you do in ways you may not have expected, and that's even assuming that things don't get taken personally OOCly.

Exactly! Of course this doesn't apply only to FCs, it applies to ALL characters. If you want to have some kind of connection to a character make sure you ask them and talk it out with them first.
