Hey! So I tried to connect today and it's saying I'm unable to connect. o.o Is the MUCK down, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!

The MUCK is presently down. I think there's a bug or something because last I was on everything was uncompilable and wouldn't run. Eventually the place went done. Been that way for I think four days now.

Ok, so the muck is up but as anyone who might of connected has noticed, you cant do anything. All the programs don't work. If anyone knows any of the coder, Mruko or Yaro, tell them their skills are greatly needed.
In the meantime, if there is anyone looking for some TLK RP there is Legacy of The Kings Muck. drigon.com port:1313 Site: lotk.wikidot.com
Any changes made to TPC regarding its status will be announced here on the forum. We hope to get things up and running soon.

I shut the muck down on discovering this last week in the hopes it could be restored from a backup. :/
Originally I thought it was just the libraries missing that was stopping things from compiling but someone has wiped all the properties on every object, including #0. Everything is empty.

Any luck or word from anyone? The only thing I can think of is trying to backtrace the MU*'s host and contact them some way. Am kinda getting worried and hope everyone is alright overall. I don't know if any thing can even be compiled enough to get things working without accessing the database. It has been way way too long since I did anything like that to even remember.
I remember at one point watching a friend use putty to compile a few programs on a MU* before it was possible to work loging into the game it's self but that was in a different codebase.
Argh wish I was able to actualy help some way. ><

There's one last possible fix - but only #1 can run the commands so we haven't been able to try them up until now. Try typing @sanity and then @sanfix in case it's repairable corruption. It's pretty slim though.

Well... I'm willing to give it a try. Wish me luck.
No luck. *sighs*

All isn't completely lost, if we wanted to start from scratch. Updated server in all if we got one, otherwise what we were using is fine too.
I do have a copy of the MUCKs grid from when I revamped it. No descriptions though so those would need to be redone. The code would also have to be reentered as well, for those who have them. (creation of new code is welcome) Rules and policy are on the wiki so don't really need to recreate those - a few tweaks perhaps.
If no one wants to recreate the place we can always come up with something else. I am more than willing to tinker about till we're back on our feet.

Any one with logs from the MUCK can be used to grab some descriptions of some of the areas and places, it was a trick used one one MU* I was on that had a database loss after one of the old Wolfpaw servers went totaly up in smoke and took the backups with it. Was able to recover more then half the active rooms from logs and the like.

Before we go through all the work we will now need to do (i.e. get a new database, rebuild all the rooms, describe said rooms, re-add all the programs...) we need to decide if it's worth it. Face it, there is just a handful of us that care now. I'm just not sure I have the strength now to do all that... plus my mom has been diagnosed with lung cancer...
I just wish I knew what happened...

First off let me say how sorry I am to hear about your mother Shani. I hope the best for her.
Now, is the muck really worth the trouble to recreate? In truth, no. With the amount of trouble we've had just trying to set things up and going again, not to mention with another TLK muck up, which is doing well, I'm not sure we've got a chance with one of our own of the same theme. Now I'm not saying its not possible with those of us who are determined but I really think if we stayed with TLK that we ought to come up with something no one has used before or the very least something that's been under used. (What if we used another species besides lions to tell the story. Or why not focus on a completely different pride all together.). There are plenty of possibilites here, just going to take some creativity.
If all else fails we can just go with a different theme. Something we can all agree on. I'm up for anything and have more than enough time to contribute to whatever we go with if indeed we decide to start up again.
