Once we have a MUCK name settled on (why are all the good ones taken already ), I can set up an email address/quick website with Google, like how I did with Meadows (http://meadowsmuck.googlepages.com) -- they have templates set up already, so it's not difficult to make a quick little website just for simple/important information about the MUCK itself. Otherwise, I pretty much agree that the forums are more functional, while the website is just there to help draw attention. Shani, let me know if you want me to go this route or if you have another website idea in mind.

Yeah, it is kind of annoying all the good names are taken. I do agree the forums are better for just about everything else but a simple website would be more accessible for people who are just browsing around and stumble on it.

Hey! Just wanted to pop in a few ideas here about the timeline: basically, I agree with everything! I think it should be placed at the beginning of TLK 2, because yeah, there are a lot of plot holes that would be interesting to work out. As far as the Zira/Kopa/Chaka deal goes, I've always been a subscriber to the belief that Zira definitely would've killed a cub because she was so crazy/mortified and whatnot after the death of Scar. So, whatever you guys do with that is totally up to you, but I like what I hear so far, 'specially about keeping Kiara as the crowned Princess and with Kopa as the jealous little brother. Which, speaking of Scar's death. Everyone knows he got it completely handed to him by the hyenas. But, how? Did they just beat the crap outta him, or did they .. uh.. eat him afterward? I would definitely say that they ate him, but that's just me. Obviously, a lot of my concerns will play with the hyenas absence from TLK 2 all together. Nuka said something about the 'hyenas running off' when they were planning the fire in the field, but.. where would they run off to, and why? I don't think they "ran off." I think after Simba took the throne, he probably kicked them out again. Which makes little sense to me, because they helped him in the end.. but whatever. XD If the hyenas did eat Scar (or even if they didn't eat him, but just killed him), obviously they wouldn't be welcome in the outlands with Zira and all the lionesses that were still loyal to Scar. So, the question remains: where did they go? They couldn't just disappear. D: I'd like to hear your ideas on this, because I honestly think myself in circles about this issue. XD

XD I wouldn't have put it past the hyenas to have killed and eaten Scar, given how he had betrayed them by blaming everything on them to save himself. I always thought that after they were kicked out by Simba, they probably went off to Timon and Pumbaa's jungle to nurse their wounds until the time came for them to get their revenge. Just my own weird thinking.

Haha, I have to admit, I've never thought of them being in that jungle before. But, it's an idea! I would at first just place them in the outlands, but as I said, Zira definitely wouldn't tolerate the hyenas presence in her domain, I don't think.
Which, that could be an interesting thing to broaden out on, too. What if the hyena clan and the outlanders were at a mini-"war" of their own, with the outlanders and pridelanders at it as well? I don't think that would make the hyenas (which, they need a clan name, for definitely) side with the pridelanders automatically, but maybe their presence could be more tolerated, if only for something against the outlanders? I 'unno.

I 'unno. I think that is a great way to bring the hyenas into the plot!! The hyenas helping the pridelanders to perhaps make up for the trouble they had caused and to get back at the outlanders for kicking them out or for whatever they had done to the hyenas. I really missed their presence in the second movie and this way we can make up for it.

Woo! Well, I've never seen the hyenas as 'evil', per se. To me, they've always been neutral. They don't seem to -care- about the politics between the prides, they just want to benefit themselves. I'd assume that Shenzi would be the matriarch, as she led the trio.. but, just say for a minute that she is: she wants to guarantee that the hyenas have something to eat and maybe some shelter. For a while, with Scar, they had that. Mufasa hated them, so.. yeah! They weren't -evil-, they were just -hungry-. XD
So, I think that if we went that route, that yes, Shenzi would probably try to play the diplomat for once and get in good with the pridelanders, albeit by violent means against the outlanders. I'd imagine her and Zira would be pretty good rivals.

I'd love, love, love for Shenzi to be the matriarch! I've always seen her that way myself. Hehe, yeah, they just hungry... always hungry. I can just picture Zira and Shenzi snarling at each other... LOL!!

Awesome! I have too, so that'll be fun. Coming up with a background for her and whatnot. :]
Yes! I actually saw a fan drawn picture one time, of the complete opposite, though. Of Shenzi apologizing to Zira for something. Though, I could be wrong. Maybe she was apologizing to Sarabi? There's like, a whole series of Sarabi and Shenzi pictures, since they were the two lead females under Scar's reign. Hmm. I should try to find them. Anyway, yes. Zira and Shenzi should totally hate each other. XD

I think a lot of lines in TLK2 were just thrown in as weak attempts to cover up plot holes (like Kovu's father) or explain why certain aspects weren't present (like the hyenas). But I think in starting at the point between movies allows for us to patch up the holes...for instance, the hyenas were definitely very present at the end of TLK, but disappeared outright for TLK2...for our purposes, there shouldn't be any reason as to why they couldn't have stuck around back in their old home of the Graveyard, biding their time until they can get revenge. I also certainly like the idea you have of a 'mini-war' between baddies, because I certainly play Zira with a bent against hyenas for killing Scar. >3 But, there's been a lot of talk about the T&P jungle lately...the Pridelanders taking refuge there, the hyenas, etc. I never thought that anyone really went there between films, but I did always wonder why it wasn't more in high demand...though I guess lions don't really like jungles in the wild anyway? X3 But aside from the initial setting, we'll figure it out as we go, I think. But speaking of, I came up with a little introductory ditty for our starting theme, perhaps for advertising purposes or what-not...let me know what you guys think should be added or edited or whatever. :3 ( hey look a cut intro scene from TLK2! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGZPENrpvEY ) It is the end of an era. The evil tyrant Scar has been overthrown, and the dry season has passed. The Pridelands are once again a rich paradise, and King Simba and Queen Nala have begun their rightful rule in a time of peace - with cubs on the way. The Circle of Life is complete once more. However, not all is perfect under the sun. Beyond the northern borders, the shadowy places look more menacing than ever. The Graveyard hyenas have lost their reign over the lush Pridelands, betrayed by their former ally, and they've got a bone to pick with Simba. And with the death of Scar, a new queen has risen among the ranks of his followers who were banished to the barren Outlands with only one thing on her mind - revenge. Following the majesty of the original film, _____ MUCK begins where The Lion King left off, allowing for an open slate for the continuation of the stories and characters of the Pridelands. Will Zira succeed in her vengeful mission, or is Kovu destined to fall in love with Kiara? Will you play a happy Pridelands cub, a disgruntled hyena, or perhaps even one of the original movie characters? The choice is yours!

That sounds all kinds of awesome, Zira! I do like it! And, I love the deleted scenes. Ever seen the Be Prepared reprise? I'm sure you all have, but in case you haven't, it's set pretty much right after Scar gives the news of Mufasa and Simba's deaths, and he's basically telling the lionesses that he's not gonna take no crap. ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEBOYTGy3mY ) Oh! And this popped into my mind yesterday but I kept on forgetting to ask it, and it's mostly aimed at Zira: do you think that Zira knew that Scar "killed" Mufasa and Simba? When Kovu accidentally kills Nuka, she seems pretty pissed off. Obviously because Nuka was her son, but you'd think that if she was training him to be a carbon copy of Scar she wouldn't have taken it so rough. She didn't even like Nuka that much! I don't know. Just a random idea-question that I thought of.

I like it all! Naturally, Shenzi would be the matriarch of the hyenas since she seemed to be the leader and hyenas are matriarchal, I believe? I'd always considered the Elephant Graveyard to be 'next door' to the Outlands anyway, maybe as some kind of periphery where the green, lush ground of the Pridelands starts to give way to the more wasted and desert-like conditions we see during Simba's wanderings in TLK 1? Either that, or the Outlands are simply parts of the Pridelands that haven't had time to full heal yet, it still works. I also like the idea of the hyenas being in kind of a 'Cold War' with the Outlands over killing and eating Scar. Sure they ate him, they were hungry! Whether they're completely working with the Pridelanders or just trying to keep themselves alive against a vengeful Zira through cooperating with them in an 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' fashion remains to be seen, but I can definitely see some cool options for diplomacy and interaction on both sides. Maybe Simba offers them the chance to hunt along the periphery of the Pridelands in exchange for causing trouble for the Outlanders? Who knows? Also, I really like that intro that you've put together Zira! I think it fits the general feel we're trying to go for really well.

Sweet! I've definitely got to make a spiffy history for Shenzi, then. I've got some research to do. Also, maybe it's just my imagination, but I think I remember the Elephant Graveyard being to the North, specifically, of the Pridelands. Again, I don't know if I'm just making that up or not, but I do think that's something that I've heard before. At any rate, I do like the idea of the Outlands being a part of the Pridelands that hasn't healed yet. To me, that'd be like a punch on top of the punishment. "Yeah, you're in exile AND you get to live in the climate that your beloved Scar created." And, I'm glad that you guys like the Hyenas vs Outlanders idea. It seems right to me! I mean, in a way, they did help Simba out there at the end. Maybe they didn't mean it for that, but Shenzi is clever and conniving enough to get that to be for the Hyena's benefit, concerning where they stand with the Pridelanders. I don't think they'd be quite that chummy yet, but yeah, I think that it'd be cool if Simba allowed them to hunt and whatnot in the Pridelands so long as they do a bit of dirty work against the Outlanders. I would see it as how Mufasa had to keep the Hyenas in check, so now do the Hyenas have to keep the Outlanders in check.

Since there's been a lot of talk of geography lately, figured I'd post the quick little map I doodled up based on what I saw while rewatching the films. The Graveyard is to the north, and with a bit of research, I found the Outlands are to the north as well -- so they will probably be connected here. It's very sketchy, but: i41.tinypic.com/345ip9x.jpg

Nice map! Yeah, I was going to point out that the Elephant Graveyard was the Northern Border so I'd assumed that the Outlands were in that direction as well. Pretty easy to see that there would be conflict between the hyenas and the Outlanders looking at that map. It also adds a bit of credence to the Outlands being an area of the Pridelands that haven't regenerated yet.
